REFLECTIVE JOURNAL -PHASE 2 (WEEK 2)

Day 1
On the fourth day of our teaching practice we arrived at the school around 9:20 a.m. After signing the register we returned to our room. Today was June 19' Reading Day'. A special assembly was conducted in the morning to celebrate the reading day. Students from different classes participated in the assembly. At first there was a welcome address by the principle Santosh sir. Then a student from 8th std give a speech on the importance of reading in our daily life. Another student from 7th std told an appreciation of a story book that was recently Read by her. A Nadan Pattu song was also recited by a student. After the Assembly we went to our room. Later we distributed food for the students. I also had a class in 9th K which was on the 7th period. I completed the last lesson plan from the chapter 'Bang the Drum'. I was very satisfied with their respond. Overall I had a good experience with the students.
Day 2
Today we arrived at the school around 9:20 a.m. After signing that register we went to our room.I had class in the 2nd period. Today I took a new lesson 'Learning the Game'. Children were very eager to learn this lesson because this was related to cricket. They were very interested to know profile of the author Sachin Tendulkar. Then I clarified the meaning of words using ICT. The students were keen and focus throughout my class. Some were very lazy to note down the meaning in the notebook but I made them to write it. Participation of the students of satisfactory. Some students who were sitting in the last bench were little lazy and their response was quite week. Over all I had a great experience with them.
Day 3
Today we arrived at the school at sharp 9:20 am amd marked oru attendance. I have class during the second period. I took the remaining portion of the lesson 'Learning the Game'. I checked their previous knowledge and asked questions from the last class portion. They quickly answered the questions. Then I give an entry activity which was very well done by the students. Then I presented the passage by giving a model reading to them. Then I asked them to read and I also made them to mark the difficult words. Students were engaging and responsive throughout my class. Scaffolding questions were very well answered by them. Some students found iy difficult to answer and I guided them to answer it correctly. I explaind the consolidation part using simple sentence so that a students would be able to capture the ideas easily. The pronunciation drill was also successful with students energetically repeating after me. Discourse and review questions were well presented by the students.
Day 4
As the week came to a close, I continued to take the lesson.Entry activities prompted thoughtful insights, and videos enriched our understanding. Model reading sessions and clarifications using visuals deepened our connection to the story. The week's journey culminated with heartfelt advice sharing and a sense of accomplishment.
Day 5
We reached the school at sharp 9:20 a.m. In the morning session I got a substitution period at 9th L. Teacher asked me to conduct a quiz competition as part of the reading day celebration. I provided the questions and the student answers in a paper. After that I collected the paper and corrected it and announced the winners. The winners were very happy and I congratulated them. During lunch break I went to Fousiya miss to correct the lesson plan. My period was on 5th hour.I was very prepared and plan. At first I check the previous knowledge of the students and I also collected the homework that was given in the last class. Then I give an entry activity which was the based on the real life experience. The students very well performed the answers. They were attending, cooperative and supporting. Then I explain the meanings of different words using different strategies. The students every attracted towards ICT and pictures. Then I asked scafolding question. The questions were so informative and covered the whole content. Students answered all my question. Pronunciation drill was also effective. The group activity that I gave was also engaging and interesting. All of them participated well and contributed their ideas. I concluded by providing them with a follow up activity. Overall I enjoyed the day.
